Community guidelines
Last updated 22 October 2026
Skilarts works because people put their name behind their word. Read this before you recommend anyone. It protects you, the artisans and everybody who trusts what they read here.
1. Only vouch for people you have actually used
- You must have hired the artisan yourself, or worked with or under them. "My cousin said he's good" is not a vouch.
- Be specific: what job, roughly when, where, and how it went.
- Add evidence where you can: photos of the finished work, a receipt, or a chat screenshot. Blur other people's faces and numbers.
- Never accept money, gifts or favours for a recommendation. Paid vouches get both accounts banned.
- Don't vouch for yourself, and don't get friends to vouch for you.
2. The 10-jobs rule
An artisan can only be listed if they have completed at least 10 jobs for 10 different people, whether on their own or while working under a master. Moderators may contact past clients to confirm. New recommendations stay under review for a few days while we check.
3. Get the artisan's permission
Tell the artisan you're listing them and make sure they agree to have their name, trade, area and phone number shown to Skilarts members. Never post a home address. Use a general landmark like "near Ketu bus stop".
4. Your name stands behind your word
Your name and the social media links on your profile are shown next to every vouch you make. If something goes wrong, people can see who recommended the artisan. Vouch carefully.
5. Sharing experiences and warnings
- Share facts you saw yourself. Say what happened, not what you think the person "is".
- No insults, tribal or religious slurs, threats, or calls for jungle justice. Ever.
- If you believe a crime happened (theft, assault, fraud), report it to the police first and then use the Report button. Don't accuse people of crimes in public comments.
- Community notes are only published after moderators check the evidence.
- Artisans can reply to experiences and confirm jobs. Be fair and give them that chance.
6. Skilarts is not part of the deal
We connect people. We don't employ artisans, take payments, set prices, guarantee work or insure jobs. Any agreement is between you and the artisan. Always verify before you trust.
7. What happens when things go wrong
- Moderators look at reports, contact the people involved, and ask for evidence.
- Artisans can be removed quietly, or placed on the public banned list after an investigation.
- Members who post false vouches, fake reviews or abuse are suspended or banned.
- Anyone named on Skilarts can ask for a correction or removal through the takedown form.
8. Stay safe
Don't visit anyone at their house. Meet at your property, their shop or a public place. Don't pay everything upfront. More in our safety tips.
